Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome & Soap Nuts

Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Canada

We live in a world that is filled with chemicals. Everything from the food we eat, to the cleaners we use, to the clothes we put on our skin every day. Most of us have no problems with a moderate amount of chemicals in our life, but there are those who cannot stand any amount of exposure without a severe reaction. This condition is called Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome, MCS for short.

Prior to a couple of years ago, I had never heard of this condition. I always knew that chemicals affect the skin, as I had eczema issues myself in the past, but had no idea of the magnitude of the issues some people face. What brought Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome to my attention for the first time was when one of our customers told us that they had MCS and our Greener Living Soap Nuts was the only detergent that they could use without having a severe skin reaction when they wore their clothes.

I was quite happy for them. It was common knowledge to me that soap nuts were great for people with sensitive skin, but did not know the huge impact that it had on the lives of people with MCS. I recently decided to do more research and discovered the following:

Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome is a condition that causes a person to have a reaction to any chemicals that come into contact with their skin. Many people in Canada and the USA suffer from this condition, along with the worldwide population. According to Wikipedia, MCS was first recognized as a disease in 1950, but did not gain mainstream exposure until much later.

There is still much discrepancy among medical professionals  as to the cause of the disease, and the American Medical Association does not recognize it as a chemical-caused illness. This is of little comfort to those who suffer with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome, and it is difficult to argue with the symptoms they face on a daily basis.

One thing we know for sure is that chemicals affect the skin of many people, and it appears to be much more pronounced in people with MCS.

Why Soap Nuts for Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome?

All commercial laundry detergents on the market are filled with chemicals. Even the ones that claim to be natural and eco-friendly have an ingredients list that is hard to pronounce.

Soap nuts have no added chemicals whatsoever. They are organically harvested, and dried in the sun for processing.

I do not have MCS, but have had some experience with skin irritation from commercial laundry detergents. Before using soap nuts, I had a rash that had stretched across my torso for many years. Within a month of switching to soap nuts as our laundry detergent, it cleared right up. That is what sold me on the product.

Please share this information so that it can be read by the people it can help.

You can help change the world, one load of laundry at a time.
